Submission
Rules |
So you want to
submit resources to SDB? Great! We're nothing without good contributors.
Just make sure you read this first.
- No stolen materials
- What does this mean? The term "stolen materials"
refers to sprite, background, or music rips that you didn't
rip yourself, or custom sprites and backgrounds that you didn't
make. Posing as someone else to submit their work also falls
under this category--as ridiculous as it sounds, this has
happened!
- Submissions are only accepted through
the forums!
- For a long time I accepted email submissions, but the vast
majority of them were either obviously stolen, or of poor
quality. Requiring submission posts to be made on the forums
will expose potential submissions to a wider audience before
they go on the site, reducing the likelihood of stolen material
getting through and allowing contributors to get advice from
more people. Everybody wins!
- All submissions must be at the proper
resolution
- Basically, this means any sprites or backgrounds
you submit have to be at their normal size; I get a lot of
submissions where the sprites are blown up to double their
proper size. That's no good.
- Use proper file formats
- All submissions should be properly saved in the correct
file format. Only the following formats are accepted.
- Sprite sheets: .gif or
.png - There's no excuse to
send me .bmp's. If you do I'll probably convert them,
but please don't.
- Backgrounds: .gif or
.png - No zip or rar files please. I
used to take them but I only want individuals from now,
on regardless how numerous they are.
- Sounds: .wav, .mp3, .wma,
.zip, or .rar - Use your judgement
here. If you record music in some other strange format
I might take it, I might convert it, or I might ignore
it. And if you're submitting a lot of sounds or music
from the same game all at once, put them in a zip or rar
file.
- Aim for completion
- You can't always get every single frame when
ripping sprites, but you should try to get as much as possible.
Sheets that are obviously half-assed probably won't get on
the site.
- Don't submit pixel art
- Really, don't. I'm sure your dithering skills
are just out of this world but this is a site for sprites.
Got all that? You can submit your
sprites via our forums, Spriter's
Block. There's a sub-forum just for making submissions,
so get on in there. Just make a thread "My submissions"
or whatever and you're done. I will not take submissions by
email any more, so if you've got something to submit please
don't email it to me.
